Switchback is an award-winning charity supporting young men to find a way out of the justice system and build stable, rewarding lives. Building on 13 years of impact, Switchback is growing fast and setting our sights higher than ever, aiming to reach even more prison-leavers while inspiring change across the system. The pandemic has created an even greater challenge in relation to supporting Trainees into meaningful training and employment. To achieve our goal of reaching more prison-leavers we need excellent relationships with real-work training partners and employers to support our Trainees on release. That is where you will come in.
We are determined to ensure that Switchback’s team is more representative of the young men we support, so we’re especially keen to hear from people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds or with lived experience of the criminal justice system or poverty.
About the role
You will take ownership of identifying, maintaining and nurturing long-lasting relationships with training organisations and employers. This will involve reinvigorating existing relationships alongside developing a limited range of new ones. Working alongside the Head of Delivery and the CEO, you will ensure all our partner interactions are consistent with Switchback’s values and strategic aims to reach more young men and drive change across the justice system. You will effectively organise information about our partners to enable our Switchback Mentors to connect our Trainees with meaningful opportunities.
We have built a fantastic reputation for strong relationship-building with partners across different sectors. Now we need someone to take this to the next level as we grow and become a bigger organisation providing more opportunities to more young prison-leavers.
You’ll be an outgoing individual with at least two years experience of working in a relationship-building role, and a strong understanding of the enablers of great partnerships. You will be organised with excellent attention to detail. You will also have experience of business/contracts and making the most of every partnership opportunity. Knowledge of the justice system or the catering industry would be a plus but is not essential.
Keen to work in a small team, you will be excited about the chance to nurture existing relationships and develop new ones to achieve Switchback aims. Above all, you’ll have a passion for Switchback’s ambition and purpose as a charity and a good understanding of the challenges and barriers faced by prison-leavers or people in poverty.
