About the organisation

Teach A Man To Fish is an international educational charity with one all-encompassing mission: to empower young people with the skills they need to succeed in school, work and life. We guide young people and their educators in the planning and setting up of a youth-led business that is both educational and profitable, in and out of school settings. Since 2006, we have supported 370,000 young people and trained 5,500 teachers through our programmes. Alongside this, we have 15 years of experience in training and consultancy, assisting various organisations in setting up businesses and securing sustainable income streams for their activities.


Role description

We are looking for a volunteer to support our Communications and Marketing Team with a variety of tasks and projects - supporting both organisational and programmatic communications. This role will offer an exciting behind-the-scenes look at an international development charity with the chance to develop skills in communications, marketing and research. This is a great opportunity to join a busy team in a small charity, and to be involved in a wide range of communications-related tasks, from digital content creation and supporting marketing efforts to carrying out research to increase our reach.


With all our volunteer placements we try to tailor work to the candidate’s areas of interest and provide career guidance - the specific responsibilities in this role can be adjusted to meet these interests and long term career roles.



  • Ability to volunteer between 10-15 hours per week, for a period of at least 3 months.

  • A passion for international development, enterprise and education

  • Experience of managing social media accounts

  • Experience of creating digital content (engaging visuals)

  • Excellent use of written and verbal English

  • Experience with Word, Excel & Google Drive

  • Well developed organisational skills

  • Good research skills

  • Ability to work as part of a small team

Desirable Skills

  • Spanish as a first language

  • Working knowledge of Google Ads

  • Experience of blogging/writing articles for digital platforms

  • Experience of working with video footage and editing softwares (PremierePro)
