About the role

This vacancy is for a University Access Officer to work across two schools in Greenwich, London. Our schools are shown on a map The Access Project schools on our website.

The University Access Officer works with school staff at all levels, volunteer tutors, and with the rest of The Access Project’s team to ensure that the delivery of the programme is optimised.

Role responsibilities

• Engage with students in school and enrol them onto the programme

• Match students with volunteer tutors

• Monitor student attendance to tutorials and devise innovative solutions to encourage attendance

• Assess student progress towards being able to make successful university applications

• Upload information onto the Salesforce database (training is provided)

• Monitor the impact of tutorials, and intervene as appropriate

• Build and manage relationships with volunteer tutors to ensure they have a positive experience of the programme

• Manage tutor relationships and attendance to tutorials through weekly monitoring of systems, emailing and making phone calls.

• Work with school staff to ensure their cooperation and timely completion of activities contributing to the smooth running of the programme

• Chair and present at termly school meetings with Senior Management to report on programme progress.

• University Access Officers support the volunteering team by helping to deliver tutor training sessions, and attending university site visits, which take place on occasional Saturdays and weekday evenings (paid time off is provided).

Training and Development

You will be provided with regular monthly training so that you can develop your skills and succeed in the role. There is support from your line manager (Programme Manager), as well as guidance from a Senior University Access Officer and the wider University Access Officer team across The Access Project. We are looking for a Volunteering Leader to be based with our London South East Operations Team (E14 9ST)

Our Volunteer Leaders:

• plan and deliver a wide range of volunteer activities and events, assist operational teams in their task management of volunteering activities and liaise with volunteers, volunteer groups and supervisors.
• deliver day-to-day works in Operations & Environment, such as general maintenance & repair work. This will include operating waterway control structures (further training will be provided) and tow path repair/cleaning. 

You will be required to work an annualised hour’s system which includes working a rota system including some statutory holidays, weekends and an 'on call' system. 

It's a diverse and rewarding role through which you can make a real difference on our waterways and within our communities by collaborating with colleagues, stakeholders and volunteers to bring volunteering efforts to life. 

Occasionally you may also be required to work in other areas of the region to support delivery of London & South East operations team projects.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience

Your first 6 months in role: 

• Help to identify the tasks where volunteers could help the team.  Work with the team to understand the roles.
• Review the skills required against our existing volunteers and look to recruit new volunteers. 
• Help to embed the volunteers within the team, train and assist the Task Managers to manage volunteers.
• Identify the skills and role for a Lead Volunteer and help to recruit, train and embed a Lead Volunteer(s) within the team.
• Induct and lead the volunteers and help to develop the volunteer role within the team. 

Key accountabilities:

• Provide support to the Asset Management Team in the recruitment and selection of Volunteers.
• Support and advice the Task Manager in the management of volunteers.
• Liaise with the wider volunteering team within the Regions to understand the skills of available within the existing volunteer population and how this could assist the Asset Management Team.
• Liaison with volunteers and volunteer groups to understand their current capabilities and aspirations.  Match these skills to the volunteering opportunities within Asset Management and advice on how to best meet the objectives of both parties.
• Assist in the preparation of the volunteer requirements for the Asset Management Team.
• Assist in the development of lead volunteers for the team.
• Management of volunteers in the delivery of works to ensure they are completed safely and to the correct quality, whilst maintaining volunteer satisfaction.
• Co-ordination of staff, vehicles and equipment for the efficient delivery of volunteer works.
• Co-ordination of training for volunteers to maintain and improve skills levels necessary to carry out works with Asset Management.
• Promotion of a strong safety culture to ensure all works are completed with safety as a priority thereby ensuring the wellbeing of staff, volunteers and customers.

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

It is essential that our new team members can settle in and enjoy the varied work we perform, so you really must love physical outdoor work all year around, and have a genuine appreciation for respecting the needs of nature, environment and our millions of waterway visitors.  Our waterways are not just for short visits by day users or holidaymakers, thousands of community members live on our boats all year and you will be playing a role in caring for their home, their space.

It is also essential that you are comfortable dealing with the public, and can respond to the unexpected with thought, care, respect and a positive practical approach. Knowledge of the Trust’s volunteer management system and process is preferable.

You might have practical skills and many years of working experience to offer, or you may just be starting out in your career and looking for a role which calls on your practical nature.  You don't need to be an expert in any field, but you will be able to demonstrate that you hold the values and behaviours that ensure our customers and visitors know we care.

Technical:

• NVQ Level 3 or BTEC Level 3 in an appropriate subject or equivalent previous experience, desirable. 
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills 
• Proven experience of working with and leading volunteers.
• Proven experience of delivering works to time, specification and budget.
• Some experience in customer service.
• Basic IT skills - comfortable with modern handheld mobile devices for making calls, inputting information, and use of mobile applications etc.
• Valid UK driving licence is essential.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Sport Team. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated individual to join our Opportunities Programme as Sports Manager. In this role, you will play a vital role in overseeing our in-house and community-based Sport Project. Your aim: To help make physical activity accessible to those experiencing homelessness.

About the role:

As the Sports Manager, you will be responsible for The Sport Project. You will be overseeing the day to day running of the project and management of the team including Sports Coordinators, freelancers, volunteers, and peers. You will be leading on expanding the reach of the project, forming partnerships with like-minded organisation and charities and advocating for the importance of physical activity within the homeless sector.

In your role, you will also manage relationships for grant givers and funders, including being responsible for budgets, reporting and reconciliations. Additionally you will support the team in the wider role out of the project across the homelessness community, at time this may involve helping to deliver a proportion of physical activity and helping to engage wider groups of participants and staff.

The approach taken with clients will be psychologically informed, incorporating an understanding of complex trauma and addiction. The outcomes for your role, include developing positive and sustained relationships with external partners and helping to make physical activity accessible.

About you:

• Experience managing staff or volunteers and freelancers.
• Experience and knowledge of managing projects or partnerships.
• Experience working with people from a variety of backgrounds and in different settings.
• Your toolkit includes practical expertise in group dynamics and co-production, or you have the enthusiasm and aptitude to develop these skills.

We currently have an opportunity for a Volunteering Leader within our dynamic and enthusiastic operations team, based at Swarkestone. This team are responsible for the south Derby and Leicestershire canal networks. This role will predominantly cover the Erewash Canal.

Volunteering Leaders plan and deliver a wide range of volunteer activities and events, assist operational teams in their task management of volunteering activities and liaise with volunteers, volunteer groups and supervisors. Volunteering Leaders are also tasked with delivering day-to-day works in Operations & Environment, such as general maintenance & repair work. This may include operating Waterway Control Structures (further training will be provided) & planned maintenance and reactive works.

The post holder will be required to work an annualised hours system which includes working any 5 days out of 7 rota'd system including statutory holidays, weekends and an 'on call' system.

For more than 50 years, the British Dyslexia Association (BDA) has been the voice of people living with dyslexia. We aim to influence government and other institutions to promote a dyslexia friendly society that enables dyslexic people of all ages to reach their full potential. The BDA is established as the leading dyslexia charity in the UK.

Unfortunately, the need for our support and services is high. Although awareness of dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties has grown, there are ongoing and widening gaps in access to the identification of dyslexia and the provision of expert learning support. Our national Helpline is busier than ever, supporting almost 5,500 people each year, reminding us on a daily basis why we must keep fighting for the rights of our beneficiaries.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Technical Administrator to join our organisation. This post is for a Technical Administrator who will play a central role within The Fostering Networks Practice, Learning and Development service taking a lead on the co-ordination, administrative duties and technical online developments. We are going through an exciting period of digital transformation and this post will be integral to our success. The post will have responsibility for the overall co-ordination and oversight of administration for the L&D function, support the facilitation of training courses delivered both virtually and in-person. Support and facilitate the technical operation of online and in person training and events, order and maintain stocks of, publications and other resources and assist the department in the production of reports including gathering relevant information and statistics.

About you

We are looking for a confident and enthusiastic technical administrator with experience of working in a customer-facing role to support the delivery of practice, learning and development across the UK.

With excellent communication skills and a sound understanding of e-Leaning platforms and Microsoft 365, you will use your organisational expertise to provide reliable and comprehensive coordination and administrative support to a busy team. Role Summary 
The Programme Coordinator (South-West) is a key point of contact for the Into Film Programme in England and delivers Into Film’s Programmes and projects both face to face and online with a bespoke approach for the south west.

Due to the nature of the role, occasional weekend and extended working hours are required, along with regular travel to designated regions and occasional travel elsewhere in the UK.

Main Responsibilities:

• To deliver various elements of the new Into Film programme in the south west including, but not limited to, CPD/training for teachers at all career stages, events, conferences, round tables, Teachmeet style gatherings and teacher panels both online and face to face
• To develop, sustain and be the local point of contact for schools, partners, individuals and organisations that add value or are users of the Into Film programme including a focus on EEDI and how Into Film can specifically, positively reach and include those who are underserved and underrepresented.
• To feed into and then deliver the plans in England across the programme (including Teaching with Film, Careers and Progression and Young Creatives (plus Into Film Festival, Into Film Awards and additionally funded programmes, as needed)
• To work with all departments at Into Film to ensure a joined-up approach and delivery of set outcomes, KPIs whilst adhering to budgets and deadlines
• To ensure reach across the south west and to feed into UK wide work and awareness of Into Film Programmes responding where possible to local needs
• Activation and delivery of the programme across the south west including feeding relevant regional content into email campaigns and managing the regional social media account.
• Managing local partnerships and relationships with individuals and organisations
• Utilise CRM to input and analyse data, creating dashboards and reports.
• Feeding into fundraising proposals and assessing the activity needed to achieve outcomes when planning a project.

Person Specification:
Minimum Requirements:

• Experience in activating and delivering a programme of activity within an educational context including training for teachers, workshops, events and panels.
• Knowledge of the south west landscape including English education policy and curriculum, and the screen industries.
• Ability and experience in activating and delivering other funded work including, but not limited to, Into Film Festival, Into Film Awards and other additionally funded work as it arises.
• Experience of starting, sustaining and managing relationships and partnerships with individuals and organisations locally and sometimes nationally.
• Experience of successfully delivering projects on budget and on time.
• Ability to work across a variety of strands within programmes.
• Ability to work with and agree work plans across departments in Into Film to ensure KPIs, targets and agreed outcomes are met.
• Experience and full understanding of monitoring, reporting and evaluation to ensure the programmes continually improve and evolve.
• Experience and knowledge of project planning liaising across different departments delivering to time and both managing expectations and achieving the necessary buy-in from industry.
• Awareness of the process of fundraising and feeding key information and research into successful applications.

Post Title Progression Worker 

Responsible to Director of Services (subject to review) 

Purpose of Post To support users of services through an education, training, and employability programme integrated with SCT’s wider services and enterprise offer, as well as partner opportunities in the wider community. To oversee and coordinate access to SCT’s Training and Development tutor-led activities including art, creative writing, digital skills, gardening, literacy, woodwork, and peer-led ‘Choices’ groups, and to monitor people’s progress over time.

Spitalfields Crypt Trust (SCT) is an East London charity embedded in the local community, providing practical support and training to people affected by homelessness and addictions so they can rebuild their lives. SCT Progressions Programme 

1. Identifying SCT residents and students ready to pursue ETE opportunities: 

• Collaborate with SCT tutors and managers, particularly the Therapeutic Programme Manager and Supported Housing Manager, to identify those who may benefit from the support on offer. 

• Cultivate strong relationships with SCT’s social enterprises and shops to establish clear pathways for volunteering and trainee opportunities for those who access our services. 

• Conduct assessments, develop and implement individualised Progression Plans, and evaluate progress according to each person’s needs, strengths and aspirations, involving key internal and external partners as appropriate. 

1. Providing information, advice, and guidance regarding ETE opportunities: 

• Offer information, initial advice, and guidance on employment, voluntary work, and further education opportunities.
