Tearfund is looking for a PR Manager to lead our work with ambassadors, public figures and celebrities. You will have strong relationship management skills, knowledge of how to work with public figures and the PR skills to ensure that our life-changing work gets the coverage it deserves in the media.

Tearfund is a respected Christian charity in the field of global poverty alleviation and disaster response.  Our mission of following Jesus where the need is greatest means we work in 50 of the poorest countries in the world and we also campaign in the UK, and globally, for justice, equality and change for people living in extreme poverty.  Our Ambassadors and Public Figures are important for making connections with new audiences and encouraging new and existing supporters.

You will work in a team reporting to the Head of Media.  You will be responsible for coordinating and managing our relationships with ambassadors and public figures who can be from a variety of professional fields including entertainment, music, sport and church leadership.   You will accompany them on trips to see our work, and you will generate media coverage that enables them to talk about our work. You will keep them informed on what we are doing, and accompany them on speaking events across the UK.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Self-motivated
  • Efficient
  • Organised
  • A positive team player

If you have experience of working with high-profile people, excellent relationship management skills, good PR skills and an understanding of UK media we would love to hear from you.

Please note: Interviews will take place w/c 9th December

Please note that this role is a maternity cover for 12 months or until the substantive post-holder returns from their maternity leave.

You must be committed to Tearfund's Christian beliefs.

The recruitment process will include specific checks related to safeguarding issues. In addition, personal identification information will be submitted against a Watchlist database to check against criminal convictions as a counter-terror measure.
