About the role

Overall Description
The Director of Programs oversees the management of Grassroot Soccer’s priority partnership geographies (Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Zimbabwe) while strengthening the technical assistance to Partners in all geographies as well as coordinating new partnerships globally. Grassroot Soccer (GRS) is a rapidly growing adolescent health organization that leverages the power of soccer to educate, inspire, and mobilize at-risk youth in developing countries to overcome their greatest health challenges, live healthier, more productive lives, and be agents for change in their communities. Role Overview:
The Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC) have an exciting opportunity for an Education Policy Specialist to join on a 9-month temporary basis.
At the RSC we embrace flexibility and offer hybrid working, which means our teams come together when they need to collaborate.
Although this role is contractually based at our Cambridge or London office, you will be able to work from home within the UK, with the expectation that you will attend the office as needed for your role.
The role:
• Working with teams across the RSC, you will be part of a team that works to influence education policy in the UK and Ireland. This includes community engagement and research to develop policy positions, as well as dissemination of our views (verbally and in writing) to policymakers and other stakeholders. You will engage with other staff, contractors and with partner organisations to influence education policy.
• The role will require occasional travel throughout the UK and Ireland, calling colleagues and contractors, meeting stakeholders and attending external events and meetings.
• In this role, it is expected that you will attend the office on an ad-hoc basis. If you need flexible working arrangements, please outline this in your application. This role may require occasional weekend and non-core working hours.
What we are looking for:
• Degree level or equivalent, ideally with a sound knowledge of chemistry.
• Good knowledge of one or more; primary, secondary, tertiary or vocational education policies and practices in the UK.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills including a proven ability to write effectively for different audiences.
• Proven project management skills, including the ability to plan and prioritise work.
• Creativity and the ability to generate ideas.
• Experience working in a policy and/or education-related role is desirable.
• Experience in conducting or commissioning policy or education research is desirable

Job Title: Childrens Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

Salary: £25,104 per annum
Contract type: Fixed Term (12 months with the possibility of extention for another 12 months), Full Time
Hours: 37.5 hours (Monday - Friday)
We are recruiting for a Childrens Independent Domestic Violence Advocate who will be working closely with children and their mothers who are living in our refuges escaping domestic violence and other forms of violence and abuse, to provide personal welfare support and ensure that our clients are provided with a safe, supportive, and welcoming environment.
The post holder will support children and young people from the age of 11 – 17 years old who have been affected by domestic abuse, including teenage relationship abuse. The job involves, supporting children and young people from the point of crisis to ensure their short-term and long-term safety; reduce risk; enable them to access community support services and achieve their goals. To increase the ability of partner agencies including schools to recognise and respond appropriately and safely to young people affected by domestic abuse.
Please note that this post is restricted to women due to the nature of the role. The Occupational Requirement under Schedule 9 (part 1) of the Equality Act 2010 applies. An enhnaced DBS check will also be required.

About the role
A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join our bank as a Welfare Officer, providing cover as required for the SSAFA RAF Service across the UK.
Our Bank Welfare Officers will provide direct and impactful welfare support to RAF personnel and their immediate family on an ad hoc basis when a full-time member of the team is unavailable to do so.
As a trusted and confidential source of support, you will assist our service users with challenges they are facing, from mental ill-health, difficult relationships, domestic abuse, financial and cost-of-living concerns, resettlement, housing, childcare, equality issues, bereavement, military discharge or deployment and many more - no day will be the same, as such this is a great opportunity to develop your knowledge and skills within the Welfare sector.
Our intervention is provided with consent on a non-statutory basis, and you will work with and engage our service users to develop appropriate interventions for individual outcomes.
Our service is transitioning to become more accessible and inclusive, digital technology plays a key role in this, as such you may be asked to use digital technologies to complement and enhance processes and service user experience.
You will work closely with RAF welfare teams, local authorities, health, education, civilian agencies, charities and other military organisations to ensure the best outcome for the service user.

About you
To thrive in this role you will have relevant experience of supporting adults, families and children/young people. You will be able to take a flexible and creative approach to problem solving. You will have excellent communication skills and be able to deliver presentations with confidence.
You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high standard. It is important that you have experience of planning and managing your own workload, with minimal supervision.
It would be advantageous if you have experience of carrying out assessments, preparing plans, monitoring and reviewing outcomes.
There will be some travel required and therefore you will need to be able to drive, have access to your own car and be flexible to spend nights away from home occasionally within the UK at short notice..
