City Centre, Cardiff
£32,000 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

Why Us?

We're a leading name when it comes to cancer charities and are proud of our welsh roots.

Our staff are passionate about our work so you'll join an organisation that cares. And, we look after you too.

We're a family friendly place to work especially when it comes to our working hours as they are agile across the day because we know life outside of work is just as important as work is.

Our holiday allowance is really competitive too with 35 holidays inc. of Bank Holidays. Our staff even have the opportunity to but more holidays each year too.

Working 35 hours a week you'll be mainly home-based. You'll also need to be local enough to travel to our Cardiff City Centre Head Office when you need to as well.

What's the role all about?

This role is a real opportunity to drive positive change for people affected by cancer in Wales. So, if you care about helping local communities with cancer issues and have the skills to voice our views in the right places, this is the job for you. To make a positive impact, you’ll need to know the right people and have proven skills and experience in a similar role.

It’s all about using your policy and public affairs expertise to make sure Tenovus Cancer Care is at the forefront of cancer policy thinking and development in Wales. You’ll need to be able to deliver high-quality, well-targeted policy and advocacy activity, informed by deep engagement with our communities.

Reporting to our new Director of Support, Policy and Insight, this is a pivotal role in helping the charity to achieve its strategic vision, so you also need to know your stuff when it comes to policy-driven campaigns. Horizon scanning, developing evidence-based positions, engaging with senior stakeholders, producing content for a range of audiences, and acting as a media spokesperson are just some of the elements that make this such an exciting and varied role.

What you'll need to succeed

You’ll have already succeeded in a similar role elsewhere, preferably in the health or social care field or a third sector organisation. You’ll need to understand the NHS and social care systems, as well as having the political and legislative knowledge to help you shine in this role.

We’ll want to find out about the policy and public affairs campaigns you’ve driven and the challenges you’ve faced, as well hearing about your successes.

People who do well in our teams succeed because they are open to working collaboratively and have a genuine passion for our cause. So, it goes without saying you’re a natural communicator and someone who can work with a range of stakeholders, both inside and outside Tenovus Cancer Care. And attitude is also really important to us, so we look for team players who care about our work and the people and communities we support.
