We are looking for an experienced individuals to join us as Shift Manager, managing a busy, high profile service at the frontline of efforts to reduce rough sleeping in London. This position would suit someone who is looking to move into management from a frontline casework role and who wants to work shifts that typically start at 6pm and finish at 2am.
The Rapid Response team is a new service funded by the Mayor of London to provide an emergency response to people sleeping rough in up to 24 London boroughs. This team will play a pivotal part in supporting the Mayor’s work to help homeless people get off the streets, back on to their feet and looking forward to a brighter future.
This is an exciting opportunity to provide innovative management which will influence the future of the service provision across London. As a Shift Coordinator, you will be part of a management team of 4, responsible for directly supervising and supporting night outreach workers and volunteers. You will ensure that we are meeting our fast response times and delivering a high quality service to rough sleepers. You will work evenings and into the night on a rota that will include some weekends and bank holidays. Your week would typically include 3 evenings being out on shift from 6pm-2am with support workers and 2 shifts would be office based – coordinating the rota, managing volunteers, attending meetings and liaising with external agencies. You will be able to work flexibly from a range of locations, including accompanying workers on shift to offer support and guidance as well as working from any of our London based offices.
To be successful you will be a decisive and effective leader, with the ability to directly manage staff and ensure the service’s finances are well managed. You will be confident and experienced in working with a range of vulnerable people and have the ability to support and advise frontline workers. You will have extensive experience of working with external agencies and be able to represent the service to a range of organisations including local authorities and outreach teams. You should also be able to recognise and confidently talk about best practice and its results to funders and other stakeholders.
