Are you proactive, creative and after a new challenge? We are looking for a talented and ambitious Senior Media Officer to join our friendly, hard-working media team.
One person in five in the UK is affected by lung disease. As the only UK charity for people affected by all lung and respiratory diseases – from mild asthma through to lung cancer – the Asthma UK-British Lung Foundation is here for every one of them. We provide support, fund vital research, and campaign for better prevention, treatment and care.
In this role you would use your skills to bring to life people’s stories, engage our supporters with important health advice and raise awareness of lung conditions like asthma and COPD. You would help us to communicate our ground-breaking research and promote our amazing fundraisers.
Reporting to the Head of Media, you would be responsible for planning, delivering and evaluating high impact and on-message integrated media campaigns that ensure lung health remains at the top of the news agenda. You will have the opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of work including our campaigning work on air pollution, smoking cessation and long covid, as well as promoting our key fundraising events.
This role is varied and every day is different. You could be interviewing a case study, briefing spokespeople for a TV appearance, arranging a celebrity interview, writing a feature for a national newspaper or digging out a story from survey data.
We are looking for someone who has experience in working in a busy press office, who is proficient at managing competing priorities and able to turn around attention-grabbing press materials to tight deadlines.
You will have strong contacts with a range of journalists and excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills. You will have experience in creating compelling content for traditional and social media channels and you will understand what makes key influencers – and the channels they use – tick.
This role will be responsible for managing a Media Officer so management experience is desirable.
