Job description

To manage all elements of volunteering with The Baldwin Trust. This involves assessing and meeting the needs of the Trust through the recruitment, placement, and retention of volunteers. To manage the volunteers (currently 58) and those with whom they come into contact whilst you monitor, evaluate, and accredit volunteers.

To provide guidance and assistance to the volunteer members of The Baldwin Trust in achieving a rewarding, enjoyable and progressive performance within their roles, whatever duties, and responsibilities they may accept and execute.

To organise collective and individual meetings to monitor, develop and enhance the involvement of all volunteers within the Trust and its activities.

To liaise with Trustees and the Management committee on volunteer matters and to provide regular reports to such meetings for consideration and actions.

Reporting into the Chairman.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES.

  • Review, update and create volunteer policies and procedures including risk assessments.
  • Keep up to date with legislation and policy relating to volunteering and this will include your own continuous improvement and further training if available.
  • Provide reports and information to the Trustees and Management Committee on all matters pertaining to volunteers and their duties.
  • Particularly, to work with the Training Officer and his/her team as to volunteer suitability and opportunities based on the needs of the Trust.
  • Organise and manage rotas of volunteer support to promotional events, fairs, and festivals on behalf of the Trust.
  • Create volunteer adverts and publish in appropriate communications.
  • Organise “profile raising” events to attract new volunteers.
  • Organise induction and training for volunteers.
  • Monitor, support, motivate and accredit volunteers and their work.
  • Celebrate volunteering by nominating volunteers for awards and help organise social events at which these can be celebrated.
  • Offer advice and information to existing and potential volunteers through direct contact, email, and online communications.
  • Complete 6 monthly Progress Reports for the grant funders of this position.

THE BENEFITS OFFERED

A remote working with attendance at our boats in the marinas from time to time and at Trustee & Management meetings.

A part time salary of £14.50 per hour, based on 15 hours a week, 46 weeks a year, on a self-employed basis.

This is a 21 month grant funded position.

Start date: As soon as possible.

Attendance at the evening Management meetings and Trustee meetings will be required. These take place on Thursday evenings, every 6 weeks and 4 times per year, respectively.

The position is subject to a formal review after 3 months by means of a Personal Appraisal Interview.

All bona fide expenses will be reimbursed upon completion of the Trusts Expense Claim form and submission of appropriate receipts.

Mileage allowance of 25p per mile is paid for travel costs.

The successful candidate must be computer literate, have good organisational skills and be used to working at a high level of communication with a diverse group of volunteers. Experience in charitable organisations will be a benefit.

A laptop, printer and mobile phone will be provided.

A DBS check and 2 references will be required if your application is successful.
