The Bridge Youth Project has been serving children and young people across Salisbury and wider Wiltshire since 1994 and we currently work across 25 primary and secondary schools. We are at an exciting stage in our development with a fresh vision to pioneer an innovative brand of chaplaincy across the schools and from September 2022, our Chaplaincy pilot will grow from 8 schools to 12 across Wiltshire. The role of Bridge Chaplain is key in helping us to live out our emerging vision for chaplaincy across 2 local secondary schools in Salisbury, making the biggest difference to the lives of young people, staff and their community.

Key aspects of this role will include:

• Developing excellent relationships with staff and students at two secondary schools in Salisbury.

• Acting as an interruptible and incarnational presence in the heart of each school.

• Delivering targeted support through 1:1 sessions, early intervention and emotional literacy programmes, where appropriate.

• Championing spiritual development in the schools, through inspiring collective worships, prayer spaces and courses etc.

• Linking the schools with their local church(es) and community and possessing a keen eye to pin-point potential opportunities.

• Enabling staff in the development of their own Christian understanding and religious literacy.

• Joining in with our new Chaplaincy learning group, consisting of 7-8 members of staff, through theological reflection and mutual professional development.

• Collating ongoing monitoring and evaluation to demonstrate impact and effectiveness.

Salary: £21,000-22,500 FTE (£17,118- £18,340 actual)

Hours: 35 hours per week (would consider two part-time/job share roles)

Duration: Term time only/3-year term initially.

Location: Two Salisbury-based secondary schools/our office.

Pension: 7.5% employer contributions
