At the Canal & River Trust, we believe that life is better by water. We take care of 2,000 miles of canals and rivers, and those waterways have a vital role in the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies. Every role here plays its part in transforming our canals and rivers into spaces where local people want to spend time and feel better. And yours is no exception.
Your job will be to provide a full PA service to our Director of Strategy, Engagement and Impact, so they’re free to spend as much time as possible on their vital leadership role. You’ll be responsible for everything from managing diaries, travel arrangements and directors’ expenses to preparing presentations and coordinating events. You will also be providing wide-ranging admin support in areas such as staff training and Health & Safety – and occasionally to other directors as well.
What we look for
This role calls for an experienced PA. But not just any experienced PA. Having already proved yourself capable of supporting multiple directors at once, you’ll be confident dealing with senior-level people, and cooperating and consulting with colleagues from right across the Trust. Excellent organisation and communication skills are a given, and you’ll be comfortable using various IT packages including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. We also expect you to have an NVA Business Administration Level V/HND or equivalent.
The impact you’ll have
The waterways we look after contribute to the health and wellbeing of local communities and economies, creating attractive and connected places to live, work, volunteer and spend leisure time. These historic, natural and cultural assets form part of the strategic and local green-blue infrastructure network, linking urban and rural communities as well as habitats. Our waterways are on the doorstep of 8 million people and reach some of the most deprived communities within the UK. By caring for our waterways and promoting their use we believe we can improve the wellbeing of our nation. Come and be part of it.
We aim to represent the diverse communities we are part of and welcome applicants from across all sectors of the community. We strongly believe that a diverse workforce brings with it a diversity of ideas, thinking and ways of working which enhances what we do.
