The Cares Family is an anti-racist organisation committed to advancing inclusion. We particularly welcome applications from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic people, who are under-represented in our organisation. We are an equal opportunities employer.
For 10 years, The Cares Family has been helping people find connection in a disconnected age, by tackling isolation and loneliness and building community togetherness. With the arrival of the pandemic, loneliness is better understood than ever and empathy for people experiencing it has increased. The Cares Family is therefore at a moment of opportunity to make an even bigger difference in the years ahead – by driving a ripple effect of change everywhere in the UK.
Our new Director of Projects will lead and oversee our projects, campaigns and communications work, as we seek to make an impact on connection at the systemic and cultural levels.
You will manage our Projects team to grow to six people and coach and develop the team to succeed at the highest level. You will maintain and strengthen external partnerships and work with our experienced fundraising team to ensure our Projects are sustainable. As a member of The Cares Family’s Senior Leadership Team, you will also collaborate to make key organisational decisions, embodying the organisation’s mission, strategy, culture and values.
We are looking for someone with experience working with communities and/or in social change organisations, who has built projects from the ground up and knows how to lead in a growing, fast-moving, ambitious organisation. You will be an authentic communicator and people-person, with exceptional written, spoken and listening skills and a strong track record getting the most out of ambitious teams and partnerships, who can evaluate and adapt in an ever-changing world.
We also need a self-starter: someone committed, resilient, and focused working alone as well as in a team; who is passionate about further developing The Cares Family over the coming years. If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
This is a task based application, so we are not accepting CVs. The full job description and details on how to apply are linked below – please read them carefully before submitting your application.
Fully remote during the pandemic, then based in London, Liverpool or Manchester, though we have flexible and remote working arrangements in place.
