Job description
Legacy Officer

Central London (5 minutes from Old Street tube). Flexible working/working from home possible.

Full time - permanent

35 hours per week

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for nearly 140 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our Engagement and Income Generation directorate which works to engage our supporters to the maximum benefit of children and young people, whether that be by giving time, money or voice.

We are currently looking for a Legacy Officer to join our ambitious Supporter Relations team. This is great opportunity to enhance and develop your knowledge in this specialist area, as you will be acting as the primary face of legacy administration for The Children's Society.

The successful candidate will be managing a caseload of pecuniary, residuary and life interest estates, ensuring the wishes of the legator are carried out and that The Children's Society receives its legacy entitlement in full.

In order to be successful in this role, you will have:

-A commitment to changing the lives of disadvantaged children and young people

-Experience of working as a charity Legacy Officer or similar position

-Institute of Legacy Management Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration or appropriate alternative qualification

-Broad knowledge of the legal and technical issues as they affect charity legacy administration

-High degree of accuracy and attention to detail

-Excellent communication skills both verbal and written

-High degree of financial numeracy, including the ability to manipulate spreadsheets and produce financial reports

You will ideally be familiar with the First Class 4 legacy database and also be a member of the Institute of Legacy Management.

The Children's Society runs over 100 local services that help thousands of young people who desperately need our support, and we campaign to get laws and policies changed to make children's lives happier and safer.

Every day we're changing the lives of children in this country for the better - and with your help, tomorrow we can be there for even more.

The closing date for applications is 23:59 pm on Sunday 27th September

Interviews will be held virtually and be on a rolling basis until appointments are made so candidates are invited to apply at their earliest opportunity.
