Substance Use Practitioner

Permanent contract (but please note the provisional end date of funding is 31st March 2021)

37 hours per week

£25,813 per annum

The Children's Society has been helping children and young people in this country for over 130 years. We run local services that support children when they are at their most vulnerable and in desperate need of help. We're there for children, every step of the way.

This role sits within our children and families directorate, which works to provide immediate one-to-one and group support for children who urgently need support. Your role will be to help us maintain and develop innovative practice to support our work in our services within the Essex area.

We wish to recruit a Substance Use Practitioner to join the established All Age Recovery Co-ordination Service, we deliver in partnership with Open Road, supporting young people, adults and families affected by substance use.

You will be a County-wide practitioner being deployed to support capacity where need dictates under the direction of the Service Managers.

You will undertake comprehensive assessments and risk assessments of young people up to the age of 24, co-developing client led recovery care plans to and managing their care coordination throughout the treatment system. This will be delivered through a range of specialist interventions, in both a one to one and targeted group work capacity.

In order to be successful in this role, you must have:

-A relevant professional qualification e.g. FDAP, Youth and Community, Diploma in Counselling, Social Wor or NVQ4 Health and Social Care or equivalent or working towards.

-Extensive experience in working with vulnerable children, young people & adults preferably with substance use or misuse issues, (paid or unpaid), and a clear understanding of the need for and ability to deliver quality services.

-Knowledge of Safeguarding Procedures and ability to clearly demonstrate & evidence of safe working practice.

-Experience of carrying out individual and group work interventions with young people & adults
