The Connections at St.Martin’s is seeking an exceptional Director of Fundraising and Communications, with strong experience of fundraising and associated communications. This is a one year fixed term maternity cover post, with responsibility for leading the dynamic Fundraising & Communications Team to achieve ambitious targets in a supportive environment. Furthermore, the post holder will act as a key member of the Connection’s three-person Leadership Team. We are seeking a driven and capable fundraiser and leader, ideally with experience of Corporate Fundraising or Individual Giving – areas we seek to develop in the coming year.
The Connection at St. Martin’s is based in the heart of London, right next to Trafalgar Square. We have been helping homeless people for over 100 years, and are one of London’s largest homelessness charities. Last year, we helped over 2,600 people to move away from, and stay off the streets of London.
We provide tailored employment support and training, volunteering opportunities and housing advice. We also provide a variety of specialist services to help clients cope with the physical and psychological effects of being homeless, empowering them to develop their strengths and ability to change their own future and recover from homelessness – working with clients, not for them.
The Connection at St. Martins has an annual turnover of £5.3m, a staff team of 100 and around 50 regular volunteers. The fundraising team raises circa £3m a year and the charity benefits from the BBC Radio 4 Christmas Appeal, run by our partners - the St. Martin’s Charity. CSTM has a high profile and a sound financial footing with significant independence from statutory funding. That said, there are close working links with Westminster City Council, and other homelessness organisations such as The Passage, St. Mungos and West London Mission. The charity also has a number of high-profile corporate neighbours who support our work.
The exciting role of Director of Fundraising and Communications is of critical importance to the organisation. The post holder will be a key member of the Connection’s three-person Leadership Team. You will lead a passionate and driven Fundraising & Communications Team to achieve ambitious targets in a supportive environment.
Our strategy includes our aim to grow fundraising from £2.5m to £3m a year by 2023. You therefore must be able to oversee the work range of different funding streams as well as possessing the ability to secure five and six figure sums in your own right.
You must be an extremely strong relationship builder and networker
Exicted by the prospect of leading an ambitious fundraising team
Passionate about helping to change the lives of homeless people which our charity support.
Ideally have experience of Corporate Fundraising or Individual Giving.
To apply, please submit a CV and cover letter highlighting that you meet the requirements of the role set out in the person specification attached.
