About the Women’s Development Unit
These roles will work as part of the Women’s Development Unit, a partnership between The Connection at St Martin and Solace Women’s Aid, which seeks to tackle women’s homelessness.
The Connection at St. Martin’s is based in the heart of London, near Charing Cross Station and Trafalgar Square. The Connection has been helping homeless people since the First World War and is one of London’s largest homelessness charities. The Connection helps 2500 people each year through delivery of services for rough sleepers and people who are vulnerably housed.
Solace Women’s Aid is an innovative, exciting, grassroots charity working across London. Our purpose is to bring to an end the harm done through domestic and sexual violence to all survivors, and in particular women and children. Our work is holistic and empowering, working alongside survivors to achieve independent lives free from abuse.
The Women’s Development Unit will support collaboration across the violence against women and girls (VAWG) and homelessness sectors, to advocate for and enhance the voice of homeless women across London to influence relevant national, regional and local strategies and to drive forward improvements in service provision for women in London facing severe and multiple disadvantage.
The roles require:
• An understanding of the needs and issues faced by homeless women
• An understanding of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG)
• Experience of working with other agencies and of building strong, effective partnerships
• Creative, flexible thinking and ability to work within a new unit as it develops
• Strong experience in policy, practice development, training and/or evidence and impact
