About us

The Cotton Tree's vision is a society that fully respects the rights and dignity of asylum seekers and refugees, seeking justice and a flourishing life for all. Our mission is to offer personally sensitive free support (legal, social, practical, emotional) to refugees and asylum seekers as they seek to move on with their lives in the UK. We are authorised to offer legal advice at OISC Level 2, and we help asylum seekers to prepare their claims and to find solicitors, while we also provide practical support on housing, medical and other issues. Our members also find confidence and hope through our Heal and Grow branch, which facilitates refugee-led support groups and other occasional workshops tailored specifically for refugees and asylum seekers. We believe that relaxed time, professional expertise and a supportive community will enable individuals to move beyond their traumatic histories and start to rebuild their lives.
