Who is the Durnford Society?

The Durnford Society provides supported living, domiciliary care and residential care services to adults with learning disabilities. Established over 30 years ago, our aim is to help the individuals we support to live their lives as they wish and achieve their full potential.

We’re now looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our dedicated team in Plymouth.

What will I be doing?

As a Senior Support Worker, you will provide the highest standard of care to individuals with learning disabilities within our registered care home in Plymstock.

Leading a team of Support Workers, you will provide advice, assistance and supervision to ensure our service maximises individuals’ quality of life and is in line with their support plan.

Your role will also involve:

- Assisting in the induction and training of staff
- Administering medication in line with medication policy and individuals’ support plans
- Supporting service users regarding decision making and lifestyle choices
- Ensuring all personal care tasks are carried out in line with support plans
- Working as a Keyworker to co-ordinate support plans, hospital passports and health action plans
- Contributing towards and attending reviews and multi-disciplinary meetings

What do I need to join the team?

To join us as a Senior Support Worker, you will need:

- At a minimum, a diploma or NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Health and Social Care
- Good literacy, numeracy and proficient MS Office skills
- An understanding of legislation effecting care provision
- A full, valid driving licence

Other organisations may call this role Support Worker, Lead Support Worker, Key Worker, Residential Support Worker, Senior Carer, Senior Healthcare Assistant, or Lead Care Assistant.

This is a full-time role, working 40 hours per week.

The closing date for this role is the 28th February 2020, with interviews scheduled to take place on the week beginning the 9th March 2020.
