Job Description

Who We Are

The Felix Project is a dynamic new London charity founded in March 2016. Our model is simple: we collect high quality, surplus food that would otherwise be disposed of and deliver it free of charge to charities that provide food for people in need.

Our profile has been raised significantly by the ‘The Big Food Rescue’ BBC documentary as well as high profile articles in the Evening Standard and a volunteering opportunity for Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London. At the heart of our operation are 400 volunteers who drive the Felix vans, pack, sort and distribute food in our two depots in north and west London and central London operation. This year we have launched a school’s program which will reach 150 schools by the end of 2019.

Our network of supporters is made up of people from a range of backgrounds; all united in our mission to fight food waste and food poverty.

Why We Exist

Each year, the UK generates 1.9 million tonnes of food waste that could have been eaten, which is worth around £4.5bn. At the same time, thirteen million people in the UK live below the poverty line, and in London 70,000 children go to school hungry each day.

Who we help

The food we rescue benefits the lives of people who are struggling, including the elderly, homeless and refugees as well as primary school pupils and their families. Every week, we deliver close to 20 tonnes of food, enough to provide for 100,000 people.
