The Forward Trust is a social enterprise and UK leading provider of drug and alcohol treatment services to offenders. We are looking for a friendly and qualified individual to join our team as a Band 6 Senior Substance Misuse Nurse at HMP High Down. HMP High Down is a Category B male prison housing a large and diverse population that need your nursing abilities.

Role responsibilities for the Band 6 Senior Substance Misuse Nurse:

* Deliver a mixture of psychosocial and clinical interventions
* Provide clinical assessment and treatment to drug and alcohol dependant prisoners
* Deliver high standards of nursing care and interventions and demonstrate leadership qualities
* Work in partnership with HM Prison Services and other stakeholders
* Deliver of prescribed medication following patient assessment
* Maintain a flexible and can-do approach to work
* Work with a high degree of autonomy and professionalism
* Provide clinical supervision to junior staff in all aspects of care
* Attend clinical meetings, relevant groups and committees
* Work with the Lead Nurse to help identify and support junior staff learning and development training needs

Requirements for the Band 6 Senior Substance Misuse Nurse:

* A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Registered General Nurse or Mental Health Nurse (post-registration)
* Ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care
* Knowledge of the safe storage and administration of medication
* Awareness of health issues related to substance misuse
* Good written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
* Proactive, adaptable and confident
* Ability to work under pressure
