Job description

Salary up to £23,000 p.a. depending on relevant experience

As an organisation we have a big responsibility; we’re here to inspire and develop the next generation and we’re here to support our community to be a positive place for everyone living and working here.  To do that, we need talented, professional, committed people with diverse voices, cultures and experience.

We look for people who are passionate about what they do, and who care about improving the lives of others. We pride ourselves on providing a positive culture for all staff and we celebrate diversity in our workforce, recognising the wealth of ideas and experience that a diverse workforce can bring.

Joining our team means working for a people-focussed organisation which does great things in and for our community.  If you are looking for the opportunity to develop your skills, knowledge and career within the charitable/voluntary sector please read on!

We are developing a new strategy to take a collaborative, place-based approach to supporting Bedford’s diverse communities. Over the challenging pandemic period, we’ve dug deep into the Borough statistics and spoken to over 400 members of the public about the issues which concern them. We’ve built new partnerships and developed innovative projects to help those most affected by the pandemic.

The Community Programmes Assistant role is a great opportunity for someone seeking a career in the charity sector and looking to gain experience in a variety of areas. Principal duties are providing core business support to the communities team, partners and grant applicants. There are also opportunities to gain experience in communications, events and grantmaking.

If you can use your own initiative, would like to work in a small friendly office, and have excellent Microsoft Office skills this may be the perfect role for you.  In addition to a competitive salary and generous holiday entitlement, we offer an excellent pension scheme, life insurance, hospital surgical treatment insurance, employee assistance programme, and a cash plan scheme that includes a variety of wellbeing benefits.  There is also ample free car parking on site.
