The Health Foundation is an independent charity committed to bringing about better health and health care for people in the UK.

Improving the nation’s health and reducing health inequalities is core to the Healthy Lives Directorate’s purpose. The COVID-19 pandemic and the wider governmental and societal response has further exposed the inequalities in our society and what these mean for people health – now and in the future.

The Health Foundation is setting up a time-limited programme of work to produce a policy report describing the impact of, and impact on, people’s health and existing inequalities in relation to COVID-19 and the wider government and societal response. It will draw preliminary conclusions on the longer-term impact of the pandemic on the nation’s health and health inequalities. The comprehensive synthesis of the evidence to date will help inform decision making as part of the recovery phase.

We are looking to recruit 3 fixed terms posts to form the secretariat and deliver this exciting new programme of work.  This small team will be based within the Healthy Lives Directorate and will work closely with the external strategic advisor and advisory panel for the programme of work.

The Senior Research Fellow will work closely with the strategic advisor/Chair for the programme of work, and is responsible for overseeing the secretariat’s work, and leading on the content and writing of the report and narrative to deliver a final publication aimed at a policy audience by May 2021.

The postholder will have strong research skills, a proactive approach, and be comfortable with working with high levels of delegated responsibility and in a fast-paced environment. It is essential therefore that the postholder is able to work effectively both independently and within a team; ensuring good lines of communication across multiple complex strands of work.
