With a rich, diverse history, which began back in 1979 with our founders, we’ve been making a difference ever since.

Today our free care supports 2,000 local people and their families, in Herts and Bucks. We truly are a community hospice
– built and funded by the community, to serve the community.

We were founded by volunteers and our volunteers are just as important to us as they have always been.  With 1225 volunteers across 80 different roles, there has never been a more exciting time to join the team!

People are at the heart of everything we do. And you would be no different. We are all vital cogs in delivering our care and support. We’re looking for a Voluntary Services Officer to unpin our evolving approach volunteering.

If you are someone who has a passion for working with volunteers, are committed to delivering a fantastic volunteering experience,  have the ability to juggle multiple projects and tasks and are creative in your approach….then we’d love to hear from you.

Our new Voluntary Services Officer will be working in our small but mighty voluntary services team to support the organisation in recruiting new volunteers along with supporting volunteers and volunteer team leaders throughout the volunteer journey.

About the role:

As part of a busy, reactive and innovative team, this post will have a strong focus on being the first point of contact for internal and external callers and contacts about volunteering.

The post holder will be accountable for ensuring our communication with and about volunteers is outstanding and advocating for the impact, fun and importance of the volunteer experience. The role will be responsible for the prospecting for new volunteers and the foundation for a great volunteering experience. Everything from recruitment to induction, reviewing experience in role and the experience when volunteers leave.

The must haves:

• Flexible, empathetic, enthusiastic, positive attitude

• Ability to manage a number of on-going tasks and prioritise effectively

• Good level of education overall; Academic qualifications including GCSEs and A-Levels.

• 2 years work experience in administration including working with databases and running reports.

• A passion for volunteering  and experience of working with volunteers.

• Excellent communication skills – written and verbal

• People-focused team player, able to relate to people at all levels

• Act as an ambassador for the Hospice at all times #ProudToWorkAtHoSF

 

The nice to haves:

• A sound understanding of the principles of good volunteer practice and processes

• Knowledge of best practice in recruitment to deliver inclusive unbiased outcomes

• Enthusiastic, energetic, resourceful, self-motivated, with the ability to use initiative

• Hold a full UK driver’s licence with your own vehicle to travel if required by the role

• Prepared to attend occasional events out of office hours
