Job description

As our Programmes Officer you will be supporting our amazing programmes team in this varied and exciting role, with plenty of room to develop.

You will implement our volunteer recruitment strategy, collect and manage our important impact data to measure the success of our programmes and support events, communications and content for the Programmes teams to help children to live the lives they deserve.

You will be organised, proactive, and personable, conducting interviews with prospective volunteer mentors, building external relationships and managing data and CRM systems.

Recruitment responsibility:

  • Recruit diverse volunteer mentor community to represent our mentees, and be accountable for number of mentors recruited through your outreach,
  • Vet, interview, train and onboard new mentors in line with our safer recruitment practices,
  • Forge relationships with key stakeholders such as volunteer centres, universities, faith groups, sports clubs, online communities and more that have aligned values and can offer access to prospective volunteers,
  • Develop recruitment resources to drive diverse recruitment including social media posts, volunteer adverts, leaflets and role descriptions,
  • Uphold our safeguarding principles and processes to the highest standard,
  • Process DBS and conduct reference checks on potential volunteers,
  • Book and coordinate safer recruitment panels throughout the year,
  • Act in compliance with our policies and processes at all times, ensuring data is stored and managed in line with GDPR,

 

Admin responsibility

  • Support Programme Managers throughout matching periods and during the programmes by onboarding new stakeholders to Salesforce our CRM system,
  • Coordinating the programme events, organising training and mentor socials, supporting with technology in hybrid events and admin,
  • Leading on programme communications, writing regular newsletters and programme update communications,
  • Manage and improve CRM systems and processes, ensuring data is kept up to date throughout the year,
  • Lead the scheduling of school meetings, mentor reviews, and other events and meetings,
  • Collect quantitative impact from all stakeholders, and create content that can be shared on social media and in funding bids.

 

About you

We are looking for a highly motivated, personable, strong communicator who is passionate about mentoring and volunteer recruitment. To be successful, you will be solution focused, organised, positive, proactive and strategic.

 

PERSONAL SPECIFICATION

  • Track record of recruiting volunteers effectively or staff in an HR setting,
  • Track record of manging and developing processes effectively,
  • Strong organisation and administration skills,
  • Experience in following safeguarding processes and foundation level in child protection,
  • Experience of developing networks and relationships with a wide range of partners, volunteers and stakeholders,
  • Ability to be solution focused and self-motivating, to work on your own initiative and be accountable for your own work,
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to communicate to a range of audiences with impact,
  • Skilled at delivering engaging training sessions events,
  • Excellent IT skills with ability to use spreadsheets, emails and databases effectively,
  • Non-judgemental, self-motivated, pro-active, compassionate and solution focused.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of the UK education and charity sector,
  • Experience of working with children and families directly in challenging environments and understanding of the challenges facing children in London,
  • Experience delivering effective training and workshops to volunteers to support their development,
  • Marketing and communications skills,
  • Experience using Salesforce.
