The Legal Education Foundation (TLEF) believes that the law plays an essential part in supporting civil society, economic development and democracy. Our vision is of a society where everyone understands the role and value of the law and has the capability and opportunity to use it to ensure their rights, and to fulfil the obligations that accompany these rights.
Since TLEF was launched in late 2012, we have developed an approach centred on helping citizens to understand and use the law to secure rights, fair treatment, and protection. In the past five years, we have made 400 grants totalling £22million and as we go into our sixth anniversary, TLEF grant funding continues to rise and we have launched a new Strategy for 2020-2025. Our activities continue to fund and engage different communities, from people navigating public decision-making processes, to parliamentarians and policymakers drafting new legislation.
It is in this evolving context, that TLEF is looking to appoint a new Governor to join our board. We are specifically seeking an individual with senior professional accounting/financial management experience. The Governor will have worked in a necessarily complex organisation of relevant scale. Ideally, they will have an understanding of charity governance and best practice across sectors. Critically, they will be sympathetic to the ethos, values and mission of the Foundation. We want to increase the diversity of our Governing Board and welcome applications from all sectors of society and from individuals across geographies.
