Job description

An exciting opportunity to come and join our passionate and dedicated team at The Maypole Project as our Volunteer Administrator. The Maypole Project provide vital support to families with a child(ren) with complex medical needs and disabilities. 

We are looking for a proactive, outgoing and organised person with a passion for volunteering to join The Maypole Project team. In this role you will recruit and manage volunteers for our services.

You will help develop services by increasing the number of volunteers, meeting demand and enabling growth in new areas. There will be opportunities to organise and deliver promotional and volunteer recruitment activities, and you will manage volunteer applications, interviews and induction. It’s important that volunteers have a great experience with The Maypole Project, so you will ensure they feel supported and valued throughout the process.

Key tasks and duties:

  • Respond to all incoming volunteer applications for various sites, and remote roles
  • Provide induction plan and training to areas of volunteering at The Maypole Project
  • Identify creative ways to engage, enthuse, motivate, and thank a growing team of volunteers
  • Research and implement new volunteer recruitment channels for all roles
  • Manage an appropriately targeted, creative, marketing plan to develop our team of volunteers.
  • Run systems such as databases for the recording and collation of volunteering information
  • Create personal development plans of training etc with volunteers as appropriate including co-ordination of training schemes.
  • Co-ordinate and attend a volunteer’s reference group
  • Work across the staff of The Maypole Project to ensure that voluntary role descriptions are appropriately updated and informed to all appropriate areas (both internal and external
  • Build relationships with external bodies in relation to this work (volunteering umbrella agencies for example)
  • Provide information/updates/ volunteering stories and feedback to the website and other external communications
  • Ensure that volunteering at The Maypole Project follows national safeguarding policies and procedures

Person Specification:

  • Ability to communicate with the general public by phone and written communications
  • Up to two years’ experience in volunteer co-ordination
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills
  • Good time management skills, ability to prioritise own workload
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Flexibility with working out of hours and weekends when necessary
  • A real team player who effectively interacts with peers and helps motivate other members of the team
  • Reliable, conscientious, and dedicated
