Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
Voluntary
Job description

Raising funds for the local group is essential to provide services, grants and activities for people affected by MS. Our Fundraising Volunteers plan and run events, develop links with local organisations and deliver awareness activities to promote the needs of people affected by MS.

We’re the MS Society – a community of people living with MS, scientists, campaigners, listeners, organisers, ambassadors and fundraisers. Our volunteers are a key part of achieving our goals and their support is vital. Join us.

About this opportunity

We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for the Cheltenham & North Cotswold Group. As a Fundraising Volunteer, you will plan and deliver a range of fundraising activities for the group to help support the work of the MS Society locally.

Would you like to make a positive difference to the lives of people affected by MS? Could you help a small team of volunteers to raise the profile of the group locally and to raise the funds needed to run services and opportunities locally? If so, then you're the person we need!

MS Society Cheltenham & North Cotswold is a small and friendly group of about 8 volunteers who meet regularly to plan social, information and other opportunities for people affected by MS in the area. Some of our volunteers are trained to offer support and information about local services, and we provide grants to help pay for items that will have a significant positive impact on the lives of those affected by MS.

We also fund two exercise classes and distribute a regular newsletter. We are looking to recruit a Fundraising Volunteer for our group, offering a flexible volunteering opportunity for someone who enjoys organising fundraising activities, big or small. The role would involve researching and talking to prospective supporters to develop links with local organisations, and also keeping up to date with guidance, information and fundraising initiatives at a local and national level.

Our roles are flexible and aim to fit around you. Time commitments for this role may vary depending on the number and type of fundraising activities arranged, but there are no set requirements. We meet every couple of months for about 2 hours, plus you will need time to plan and attend a series of fundraising activities and events throughout the year.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.

About you

You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally. You will understand the needs of people affected by MS in your area and be sympathetic to the needs and motivations of volunteers. You’ll be a good organiser with plenty of creative ideas, preferably with fundraising, sales or event management experience. You would need to live in Cheltenham/North Cotswold area for this role.
