About this opportunity
We are looking to recruit a Health and Safety Volunteer for the Cheltenham and North Cotswold Group. As a Health & Safety Volunteer, you will ensure group activities, events and premises are safe and inclusive for everyone.
We are a friendly group of about 6 volunteers, who hold socials, organise fundraising collections, and run exercise classes in the Cheltenham area. We also organise information events and trips during the year.
We really need someone to help ensure that all our activities and events are safe, accessible and inclusive. This is an opportunity for you to volunteer within a well-established Health and Safety system to make a tangible difference to the operations of the MS Society in our area. By carrying out simple risk assessments or following guidance documents, you will help the Group Coordinating Team consider the safety implications of any planned activities and prevent accidents. Importantly, you'll also be helping us give the people using our services the confidence to know that they will be kept safe from harm.
This role is home-based and out and about in the community, and flexible to suit your availability. We are very flexible about the hours and days you volunteer because we understand that you have other commitments, but the anticipated time for this role is expected to be approximately about 4 hours per month. Ideally, you will be able to come along to our Group Coordinating Team meeting every couple of months to find out about the activities that are planned.
Welcome and Induction resources are available for new volunteers, and we run regular training opportunities specifically covering our risk management processes.
This is a great opportunity to gain experience within a large charity and develop your existing skills and learn new ones. We need you to get involved and help make positive changes to the lives of people affected by MS.
You’ll have an interest in the MS Society and the work that we do, as well as the enthusiasm to represent both us and our values locally.
You’ll need to live in or near the Cheltenham or North Cotswold area to carry out this role.
