Job description

The Museums Association is seeking a part time (60% FTE) Policy and Campaigns Officer to play a leading role in developing the Museums Association’s policy and campaigns work.

In this exciting new role you will have the opportunity to support the MA’s current campaigns, including Museums Change Lives, and Empowering Collections. You will conduct research, draft policy papers, create impactful policy events and respond to information requests to ensure that we deliver for our growing membership.

In particular you will have the opportunity to undertake research on museum learning and engagement and to help develop a substantial campaign on Museums and Climate Crisis. This work will enable the Museums Association to promote best practice across our membership and to campaign for increased funding and support for museums.

Working closely with the Policy Manager you will also support the administration of the Museum’s Association’s Ethics Committee which provides ethical advice for museums on a range of high-profile issues.

The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills; knowledge of the policy-making process; the ability to research and write accessible, clear policy documents for a range of audiences; an enthusiasm for museums and the wider cultural sector; and will be able to manage multiple individual pieces of work.

The Museums Association is a dynamic and campaigning membership organisation with a mission to inspire museums to changes lives. We have a strong vision and values and a bold business plan. Joining us at this time would be an excellent opportunity to work for a vibrant and inclusive organisation and be part of a friendly and enthusiastic team.

The closing date for applications is 11.59pm on Sunday 23 February 2020.

Interviews will be held on Friday 6 March 2020 at the MA’s office.

Please visit the Museums Association website for details on how to apply.
