Job Description

A great opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising Officer to join the team at The Mustard Tree, which is a Christian Reading-based charity (Reg No. 1104631).  We strive to identify, support and empower the misunderstood and overlooked in our local community. We work in partnership with other local organisations and for this role we are partnering with Hope into Action and Readifood (part of Faith Christian Group).  We are looking for an experienced Fundraiser who has a proven track record in successful income generation, outstanding written communication skills, and experience of developing applications to a range of trusts and foundations.

This diverse role is for 30hrs per week and time will be split between fundraising for The Mustard Tree and its projects 15hrs, Readifood (part of Faith Christian Group) 7.5 hrs, and Hope into Action 7.5 hrs. The Mustard Tree provides a range of support to other small charities and projects, including fundraising services. Additional hours may therefore become available for the Fundraising Officer on a temporary basis. The main purpose of the role is to ensure financial sustainability for the Mustard Tree, Hope into Action and Readifood, by carrying out fundraising activities and developing strategies to build supporter networks.

The key tasks are:

  • Research, write and submit grant applications
  • Work with the Mustard Tree, and the partners to develop funding sources
  • Organise fundraising events
  • Build supporter networks and develop engagement strategies
  • Maintain relationships with existing funders
  • Develop and implement a stewardship and communication plan to help manage and grow relationships with existing individual donors and local church partners

We are looking for a candidate with experience of successful income generation, developing applications to a range of trusts and foundations, who has outstanding written communication skills, strong interpersonal skills and excellent IT & research skills. The successful candidate will also have the ability to craft simple, compelling messages, have good time management and be able to juggle multiple deadlines. You will also have an understanding or experience of how to work within Church structures and a demonstrable commitment to the ethos and values of MTF.

Please send a CV and covering letter to the HR team detailing why you are suitable for the role.

Interviews will be held on Tuesday 17th & Wednesday 18th July 2018 at our offices in Reading
