Deputy Director of Support and Advice Services

National Deaf Children’s Society is looking for a Deputy Director of Support and Advice Services. This unique role will manage the UK-wide tiered provision comprising: Universal Helpline and online community, targeted Children and Family Support and specialist Appeals and Disputes casework.

The role demands an understanding of running effective advice and support services for young people and their families combined with knowledge of the relevant education and welfare legislation. As the Deputy Director of Support and Advice Services, you will provide strong leadership, ensuring that the delivery of the service is of high quality, rooted in good practice and enables positive outcomes for deaf children and young people. A culture of continuous improvement is necessary to drive forward the ongoing improvement of the service, as well as the need to maintain its relevance across the four UK countries.

In both the written application and during the interview process, applicants will be expected to demonstrate they have proven experience in managing large teams, as well as supporting and empowering others. This exciting role requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to formulate and produce detailed management information reports and convey complex information succinctly. You will come with extensive experience of operational management at a senior level including service planning, setting and monitoring KPIs, outcomes and impact reporting and financial management.
