SALARY: £19,890 pro rata (London Living Wage)

CONTRACT: Fixed term to 31 Mar 2019, Full time 37.5 hrs pw, 9:30am to 6pm

LOCATION: Bermondsey SE1, London

We’re a national charity investing in music-making projects for children and young people experiencing challenging circumstances.

About the role

The Fundraising Intern will support the team to raise money to support our work. You will gain hands on experience of how to nurture and develop partnerships with trusts and foundations, corporate partners, major givers, individual givers and communicate with our community event participants.

This internship is designed to help someone who would like to work in the arts or charity sector, offering a fixed-term opportunity to gain experience and skills in a paid role. We’ll give you on- the-job training in all aspects of fundraising and provide you with support towards finding your next role after Youth Music.

You don't have to have lots of experience, but we are looking for enthusiasm and a desire to learn.

What you will learn

  • How the various elements of fundraising work in a national charity 

  • How to research and embed new approaches to fundraising
  • How to plan events to ensure they generate maximum impact and income
  • How to process fundraised income: cash, cheques online platform donations
  • How to produce reports via Raiser’s Edge our software database
  • How to coordinate a donor Thank You system

What we require 

  • You’ll be a good communicator able to follow up with potential donors
  • You’ll been confident in your abilities to download, code and generate internal reports on fundraised income
  • You’ll have an interest in music – of any genre!
