Job Description

Family Support Worker is a new role within the Nehemiah team which helps vulnerabe men with a history of addiction to reccover their lives and embark on a new future. A critical part of Residents' recover is to reconcile them with their families and re-establish trust so that they can rebuild their relationship, enabling them to break the cycle of addiction that can run through generations.

The three main challenges of this role are:

  • To support Nehemiah Residents to build positive, healthy relationships with their families and other social networks
  • To provide support to family members to manage the emotional and practical challenges caused by living with, and caring for, a loved one who has an addiction
  • To enable the family members to interact with their loved one in a way that will maximise the possibility that their loved one will choose recovery

An experienced candidate will refine and develop this role, using their knowledge to tailor support to our Residents and their families, and the difficulties that they have faced during the years or addiction, and the challenges they will face in moving past this and creating a new future, with hope and trust.
