Job description

The Northern Consortium (NC) is a unique educational organisation, founded in 1987 by a group of Northern UK universities to support the advancement of education.

Operating primarily through its wholly-owned subsidiary, NCUK Ltd, the charity supports the advancement of education through the development of academic programmes and associated services to support international students’ progression to UK degree programmes.

The charity also works to promote a broader strategy to promote its ‘equity of access to international higher education’ agenda. We provide grants for research into this agenda and funding for students from under-represented groups to access international opportunities through their university experience, enhancing their academic, cultural and career development.

Following a recent leadership restructure within the NC/NCUK ‘group’ of companies, the Board of Trustees of the Northern Consortium are currently seeking a part-time Executive Director to lead delivery of the charity’s strategy, support the Board of Trustees in the delivery of public benefit and to promote the charity and its work both nationally and internationally.

Our ideal candidate is an able and enthusiastic individual, able to operate with a high degree of autonomy and to build strong working relationships with senior staff from NC’s founding universities (who make up the majority of NC’s Board of Trustees) and NCUK’s leadership. We are looking for someone who understands the regulatory environment for charities, has experience of charity governance and an interest higher education.

This is an exceptional and exciting role in the sector.

The closing date for applications is 1700 (UK time) on Monday 1 July 2019.
