Job description

We’re looking for an Individual Giving Fundraiser to join our small but committed team, to lead and execute an Individual Giving strategy.  The role will test new approaches, particularly around digital innovation as well as build on existing work, to drive forwards a robust case for support to significantly grow this income stream for The Ramblers.  Focusing on all aspects of Individual Giving, including gifts in wills and legacy fundraising, both to our existing large membership base and to develop new ways to engage with the wider public.  The postholder will be accountable for the Individual Giving and Legacy budget and will need to provide monthly reporting on insight and analysis, as well as feeding into quarterly reforecasts. 

Who we’re looking for: 

You will be an experienced Individual Giving Fundraiser, who can confidently develop and implement a new strategy, and look to significantly grow our income in line with ambitious targets and future forecasts. You will understand the need to ensure a good return on investment, and continually look to test new ideas and develop approaches that are fit for purpose, ensuring our donors are recognised and stewarded effectively.  Your passion and determination for this income stream is essential, as well as your creativity to create a strong case for support and bring to life our work.  You will develop a lifetime value for our supporters and bring experience in creating excellent appeals. Your ability to analyse and report on activity will be essential, as well as maintaining accurate and up to date records for everything within this income portfolio. 

Essential requirements include: 

Skills / Abilities:  

  • Proven track record in delivering income targets between £100k - £1 million from direct marketing and retention activity 

  • Competence in the use of IT tools including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 

  • Copywriting for fundraising communications 

  • Ability to manage budgets and produce financial reporting 

  • Ability to design and implement donation and data processing procedures 

  • Ability to design fundraising appeals and campaigns 

  • Ability to design Individual Giving strategic objectives 

  • Ability to communicate both verbally and written with a range of audiences 

  • Excellent attention to detail 

  • Strong analytical skills 

  • Experience of working with email programmes 

 

Knowledge  

  • Significant knowledge of direct marketing principles in relation to Individual Giving and Legacy Marketing 

  • Broad fundraising sector knowledge  

  • Understanding of key donor recruitment channels and approaches 

  • GDPR 

  • Fundraising regulation and best practice 

  • Proven Project Management experience 

  • Donor stewardship techniques 

  • Able to work independently, applying own initiative
