In this role you will be responsible for building a Legion-wide brand strategy that supports the charity’s long-term plans and business objectives, working across a large fragmented organisation to help achieve a consistent and compelling brand presence and narrative across all earned, owned and paid channels.
You will manage the marketing strategy and annual marketing and media plans, ensuring oversight of national ATL brand awareness campaigns and integrated BTL marketing campaigns. You will collaborate cross-organisation to ensure all marketing initiatives across multiple touchpoints deliver a refreshed awareness and understanding of an iconic British brand.
A key part of this role will be the development and management of our brand identity and brand architecture , with a focus on collaborative working with Fundraising, Membership and Operations to ensure they are empowered to use our brand correctly and with confidence, particularly through periods of development and change.
You will be responsible for planning core research and brand metrics demonstrating how marketing activity contributes to ROI and increased awareness and understanding of the Legion’s work, as well as overseeing management of our lead creative and media agencies.
You will also oversee the in-house Studio team in planning and delivering branded Legion marketing assets in print, film and imagery and all other marketing materials required by the organisation, as well as overseeing an in-house marketing team for the RBL-owned Veterans Gateway welfare product, ensuring their work is on strategy.
You must have significant experience of building brands in large, fragmented businesses. Brand identity development and management, with an excellent eye for design and attention to detail is also key. You must have strong creative nuance and knowledge of multi-marketing disciplines particularly media, paid-digital, social and PR, with a strong track record in developing and overseeing marketing strategies, annual marketing plans and campaigns.
This person needs to have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work with all levels of people with diverse skillsets and the ability to manage several ongoing projects at the same time. Significant experience of leading, managing and developing a team of 8+ people is also key.
As is the nature of a fixed-term contract role at this level, this person must have the ability to jump into the role and get to grips quickly with the work, as you’ll be joining us at a busy but very exciting time for this iconic brand.
