The RCR is a great place to work. At the forefront of the health agenda, our members diagnose and treat cancer, heart disease, stroke and more, while leading on innovations including AI, skills mix and community diagnostic hubs. As COVID-19 recedes and the cancer backlog rises the agenda, our members’ work and views have never been more important.

We are building our reputation as a leading and expert voice of radiology and oncology in the media and among politicians and policymakers. Sitting within the External Affairs team, the role of the Media Officer plays an important part.

Key to the Media Officer role is planning and delivering RCR media activity, identifying media opportunities and helping to shape reports and data to maximise press interest. Showcasing and promoting the work and interests of our members and partners to national, local, specialist and international media outlets and journalists.

Internally, the successful candidate will work closely with the RCR’s External Affairs team, Marketing and Digital team, President and College Officers, helping share knowledge, coordinate communications activities as well as provide support through media training and messaging activity on key issues.

This is a varied and stimulating role for a talented individual who is keen to use their skills and experience to work collaboratively across the organisation, doing their part to help bring about improvements in diagnosis and improvements to cancer care.

We are looking for someone with experience delivering press campaigns and responsive press work. You’ll be passionate about our cause and able to push forward the voice of clinical radiologists and oncologists ensuring their voices are at the centre of the debate around the cancer backlog and wider health reform. The successful candidate will also need to be an excellent team player and quick learner, able to work through complex data to find the story.
