£35,000 - £40,000 per year

Job description

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity raises money solely to support The Royal Marsden, a world-leading cancer centre. We ensure our nurses, doctors and research teams can provide the very best care and develop life-saving treatments, which are used across the UK and around the world.

From funding state-of-the-art equipment and ground-breaking research, to creating the very best patient environments, we will never stop looking for ways to improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity has a three-year strategy that aims to significantly grow our income. Along with funding an existing world-class programme of research, treatment and care, we are also raising £70 million to build the Oak Cancer Centre. The centre will bring together some of the world’s best minds to improve the lives of cancer patients and allow the teams to treat more patients in comfortable, modern facilities.

We have created a new role of Senior Case Studies Officer to help the Charity achieve its aims and objectives by increasing awareness of its work, and the work of the hospital through the stories of patients and fundraisers, and their family and friends.

Case studies are the personal stories of the people that The Royal Marsden has helped; patients, their families, or supporters of The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity. This new role of Senior Case Studies Officer will gather personal stories from people whose lives have been saved or improved by The Royal Marsden, and support them in telling their story to raise awareness and funds for the Charity so that it may continue to support the pioneering work of the hospital.

As the Senior Case Studies Officer you will identify and interview patients, former patients and supporters who agree to share their stories, manage these relationships, maintain a case study database, provide stories and material to key stakeholders across the Charity and pitch case study stories to the media.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience of interviewing case studies, writing and editing stories for a variety of audiences as well as a sharp news sense and ability to adapt tone of voice for different audiences across fundraising, marketing, PR and digital communications.

Highly developed verbal and written communication skills are key, along with the ability to speak to people of all ages and backgrounds sensitively about often very personal and difficult issues.

This role sits in the Marketing and Communications department, within the PR and Communications Team. It is a dedicated Charity role, working alongside the other members of the PR and Communications Team (joint Trust and Charity) to source and compile case studies.
