Job description

The Royal Society is the independent scientific academy of the UK dedicated to promoting excellence in science. Our UK Grants team manage a range of grants programmes which provide support for outstanding scientists wishing to conduct their research in the UK, from early career fellowships through to Research Professorships.

We are now looking for highly motivated candidates with excellent planning and organisational skills and a good understanding of the relevant research landscape. Proven experience working in a research management or grant funding environment is essential.

In this role you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of a key part of the Society’s UK grants schemes aimed at senior researchers, including the prestigious Royal Society Research Professorships, as well schemes aimed at fostering industry-academic collaboration and supporting research. As part of this, you will be responsible for managing a team of up to three members of staff, ensuring delivery of the relevant grant programmes. You will also be expected to build and maintain strong and positive relationships with key stakeholders and identify new opportunities for activity and collaboration with other funding organisations and potential sponsors.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of UK Grants and the other Senior Managers helping to fulfil our strategic objectives and deliver funding that will enable the best scientific talent to excel and prosper.

Hours: Full time, 35 hours a week
Location: Remote and minimum 2 days per week at Carlton House Terrace, London
