Job description

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is looking for a creative, visionary leader to provide strategic level oversight of the charity’s communication strategy as well as driving and delivering additional sources of funding.

The role is responsible for the development and implementation of a fundraising strategy which incorporates a wide-ranging, diverse and sustainable set of funding streams.  It also includes development and delivery of a public relations and corporate communications strategy which will enhance the Trust’s brand and its regional, national and global profile. The role is also responsible for internal communications.

As a member of the Trust’s executive team reporting directly to the CEO, this is a unique and special opportunity to work with an ambitious and forward-looking team which is forging new plans for future development.

You will play a key role in devising and leading change, working collaboratively with colleagues and in partnership with stakeholders at all levels in order to realise the full scale of the Trust’s considerable ambition.

You will be an energised and positive team player who is able to engage others, to work to specific goals to ‘get things done’ and to design and deliver longer-term projects.

The role is best suited to someone with significant experience of fundraising, public relations, and corporate communications in the heritage or visitor attraction sectors. The ideal candidate will also be experienced in engaging with senior stakeholders, both internally and externally, whilst building and maintaining high level partnerships across a complex landscape.

A candidate brief with full application details can be obtained from the website

The Shakespeare Birthplace Trust is committed to promoting equality of opportunity and building a diverse and representative workforce.
