The Spires Centre is an award-winning day centre that has been working with homeless and disadvantaged people in South London since 1990. We work with some of the most isolated and vulnerable in our society. The majority of our clients are homeless or have insecure accommodation, with many also facing complex issues such as long-term unemployment, poor mental and physical health, addiction and substance abuse, or they may be involved in sex work.
Our Women’s service specifically works with vulnerable women and with the help of a dedicated volunteer team, we provide a range of services including late night and early morning outreach, a twice-weekly Women’s Space, Sanctuary sex worker Drop In every Tuesday evening and an Open Access/Drop-in session. In addition a full adult learning timetable offers free classes and workshops. We assess need, create bespoke support plans, provide ongoing key work and empower people to improve their circumstances. Last year we supported over 1100 people across all our services.
Purpose of Role:
- To work as part of a team to facilitate the smooth running of outreach and centre sessions aimed at vulnerable women and other individuals, including, but not exclusively, those who sell sex.
- To lead and coordinate support for allocated clients.
- To engage, assess and respond to the immediate needs of all new and existing clients attending centre sessions and contribute to their ongoing support.
- To participate in the outreach rota and engage with women during late evening and early morning sessions.
