Job description

The organisation:

This organisation is a well-known environmental charity who are seeking a Media Officer to join them on a 1 year fixed term contract, starting ASAP.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Support the team manager to plan and implement the organisation’s communications and media campaigns
  • Identify opportunities for press coverage for the charity and make recommendations
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure consistent media activity across the charity
  • Assess and prioritise day to day stories and assume responsibility for delivery
  • Promote the work of the charity through engaging and inspiring stories in the media, across all channels
  • Generate news and stories to share and engage national media
  • Seek out opportunities to publicise case studies
  • Build and manage productive relationships with journalists
  • Draft press releases, media statements, letters, opinion pieces and blogs
  • Brief spokespeople on media activities
  • Utilise digital channels to amplify impact and reach of media successes

 

Person specification:

  • Experience in a press role
  • Understanding of the charity sector
  • Experience gaining positive media coverage across a range of channels
  • Ability to translate complex issues into engaging, media-friendly content
  • Experience building and managing productive relationships with journalists
  • Excellent internal influencing skills
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of the importance of utilising digital channels to deliver successful media campaigns

 

What's on offer:

This role is offering a salary of £32,000 for this 1 year fixed term contract, with the potential to become permanent. The role will be hybrid between home and their office in East London. Please apply today as this is a very fast moving role!
