About the Thalidomide Trust
The Thalidomide Trust was established in 1973 to provide relief and assistance (including financial support) to people born in the UK with disabilities caused by Thalidomide, (a drug licensed by the UK Government for use by pregnant mothers in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s).
Currently the Trust supports 465 beneficiaries aged between 53 and 59 living with a range of physical disabilities including limb damage, hearing and visual impairment, musculoskeletal problems, brain and sensory impairment and damage to internal organs.
About the Role

We are seeking an energetic, flexible and confident person with excellent administrative and IT skills to join our small team. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive, efficient and cost effective administrative support to the team and act as the first point of contact for people contacting the charity by phone – including the media. You will also be the first point of contact for personal visitors.
This role is a part time position of 21-28 hours (between 9am and 5pm). The work pattern will be agreed with the successful candidate.
Skills & Abilities
Do you have:
- strong ‘customer care’ skills, and experience of working in a front-line role.
- the ability to stay calm under pressure
- an excellent telephone manner
- a flexible approach to work and willing ness to take on new tasks
- good attention to detail, even when carrying out routine tasks
- good IT skills
