DIRECTOR – THE TYPE ARCHIVE, LONDON
Following the death of its founder, Sue Shaw, The Type Archive is seeking a new Director to become an integral part of the Trustees’ new vision for the future.
The Type Archive was founded in 1992 and is situated in Stockwell, South London. It is both a repository for historically significant collections that demonstrate the history of type and also a working foundry which keeps alive the skills needed for the associated precision engineering.
In addition to operational skills candidates should also have an academic and practical interest in printing history, preservation and engineering and also have a proven track record in fundraising at both a grassroots and institutional level.
The Director of the Type Archive will report to an active board of Trustees and contribute to long-term planning.
The Type Archive is not in a financially strong position and the Directorship duties are currently managed jointly by a part-time Director, the Trustees and the volunteers. Initially a new full-time Director will need to work with the Trustees to generate funding for a Director’s salary.
PLEASE CONTACT TRUSTEE SIMON TREWIN FOR FURTHER INFORMATION AND AN EXPRESSION OF INTEREST BY MARCH 7TH 2021.
