Venus is a 26-year-old, community based, grassroots charity working alongside women, children, young people and families. Our vision is for our community to have fulfilling lives and to be resilient. Our mission is: To work with women, children, young people and families in our community, recognising their choices, voices and opportunities to develop their potential. We work with our communities to shape and deliver extensive front-line support services in South Sefton and Halton.
Our work is delivered via 3 strategic programmes: Family Support; Housing and Resettlement; and Mental Health and Wellbeing. We support families in crisis by offering intensive support, outreach and home visiting, systemic family practice, financial and money management, and advocacy. This work is supported throughout by a dedicated team. Underpinning all of our work is a suite of therapeutic practices which support and maintain positive mental health and wellbeing, including services at our Star Centre, for children and young people.
Venus has grown rapidly in recent years and we are looking to recruit enthusiastic, dedicated individuals who are able to offer their time, expertise, skills and knowledge to join our existing Board of Trustees. We are especially looking for people with experience of one or more of the following areas:
- Lived experience of challenging circumstances
- Architectural and/or capital projects
- Accountancy/Charity finance and audit/Not-for-Profit strategic finance experience
- Human Resources, Personnel and Trade Union relations
Our trustees enjoy a voluntary governance role and are asked to be able to commit to attending our 6 weekly board meetings throughout the year which are held both remotely and in person as well as join relevant sub committees where appropriate. Our trustees are also asked to represent the organisation at fundraising, stakeholder and beneficiary events.
