Are you passionate about people, wildlife, and climate change? Do you want to play a key role in helping people shape the future of their own neighbourhoods; to adapt to climate change and increase their resilience to flooding?
WWT is recruiting for an outstanding Slough Sponge City Community Action Manager to join our team. You will play a pivotal role in co-producing and co-delivering with local people community solutions which will transform lives and the environment. This innovative programme will use nature-based solutions including urban wetlands to help reduce flood risk, fight climate change, improve health and well-being and make space for urban wildlife. We need you to help local people get involved in their own back yard, using nature to improve their lives, building their community, and safeguarding their future. You’ll be on site most of the week, having big community conversations, working out solutions together, creating urban wetlands and showing how with a little help, people and communities can do this for themselves.
You will be working with a strong partnership of local organisations including Slough Borough Council, Buckinghamshire County Council, and the National Flood Forum.
WWT fully supports hybrid working and flexible working including 9-day fortnights; the successful candidate will be able to discuss a suitable working pattern to ensure the work-life balance is sustainable.
The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust (WWT) is a conservation charity that protects wetlands for wildlife and people. We conserve, restore, and create wetlands. We work internationally in key global wetland areas, balancing conservation with sustainable livelihoods and influencing national and international conservation policies.
In return for your hard work and dedication you’ll enjoy a wide range of benefits including:
- 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service
- Contributory pension scheme (conditions apply)
- Life assurance
- Cycle to work scheme
- Free entry to all our centres
