Woodland Trust Legal Services is an in-house legal office of solicitors and legal executives and is part of the Woodland Trust’s Corporate Services team. We provide advice on a broad and diverse range of legal matters to a wide range of organisation stakeholders including our trustees, directors, and officers of the Trust.
Our work is diverse interesting and rewarding offering experience in not only a broad range of legal areas but involvement in key and significant projects such as our Northern Forest project and other significant projects. We have a large estate which covers England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
The role will be responsible for a broad and varied range of property legal work from the acquisition of new woodland sites across the UK to easements, wayleave agreements, commercial leases, licenses, and agricultural tenancies.
The Property solicitor/legal executive will advise the Woodland Trust on property matters including acquisitions and disposals of commercial and agricultural freehold and leasehold land both on their own account and via our external solicitors as required. The role will be responsible for effectively running and managing a diverse and interesting caseload of mixed property matters including commercial leases, licences, wayleaves, agricultural tenancies, options, and easements. The role will work closely with our Land and Property Team.
You will be a qualified and experienced commercial and or agricultural property lawyer with a strong and broad working knowledge of property legal issues and ideally with a working knowledge of charity law and agricultural tenancy law. You will have gained your experience working in house or in private practice. Experience of working for a charity is preferred but not essential. You will advise on matters directly and indirectly relating to property matters both commercial and agricultural ranging from acquisitions to advice on boundary issues. A self-starter you will be able to work without supervision including being able to carry out your own administrative work ensuring files are up to date on our system.
You will be pragmatic and able to provide clear informed and appropriate contextualized advice. You will be proactive and be able to really add value with your advice. You will possess exceptional communication skills and will be able to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. You will be a strong team player committed to the success of the Legal Team and the Trust itself. You will be able to work without supervision and to help junior colleagues.
