Tring, Hertfordshire
£24,000 - £26,000 per year
Permanent, Full-time
Job description

The Woodland Trust is the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on land outside the Trust’s own estate

The Visitor Experience Officer is a pivotal role in continuing to develop our visitor offer at our flagship site, Tring Park. They will work to maintain visitor numbers and significantly diversify our audience base, offering an audience-led, consistently high quality programme of engagement both on-site and online which results in more visitors actively supporting the work of the Woodland Trust. Through targeted marketing and partnership working with key attractions and stakeholders, the Visitor Experience Officer will utilise the setting, location and stories of Tring Park to attract new audiences, and develop an increased volunteer support base. Increased promotion to targeted local groups will demonstrate the site’s increasing value as a community asset.
The Visitor Experience Officer will be instrumental in leading new approaches to joint working to deliver on the ground results with regard to visitor engagement, membership recruitment and volunteer development and will play a key role in maintaining our current visitor offer.

You’ll have experience of working in popular visitor attractions, promoting, organising and running high quality engagement activities, ideally in a natural environment. You’ll have a proven ability to consistently deliver, and a passion for ensuring excellent levels of visitor service along with the ability to create innovative and engaging activities for a wide range of audiences. In addition, you’ll need to be present on-site on a regular basis so you’ll need to be excellent at developing effective relationships with a wide range of people. We want you to be an articulate communicator, driven by results and able to take responsibility for delivering an excellent visitor experience.

There’s no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
