Today, the Young Foundation’s mission is to enable the development of connected, more sustainable and stronger communities across the UK. We do this through amplifying the stories and lived experiences of people in our communities; using this as a spur to drive locally-led community action and enterprise. We use what we learn across different communities to spot national patterns of need and opportunity, then work with national partners to support new ideas to tackle those shared challenges. Bringing together our own – and other people’s – work, we are building a shared body of evidence, tools and insight about how communities are taking action on the issues that affect them.
About the role
We are looking for a Programme Officer to join our team on the Tower Hamlets Communities Driving Change programme. You will be working alongside residents and local stakeholders in the north-west of the borough, supporting them to design and deliver a range of projects and interventions aimed at improving health and wellbeing locally.
You will be an energised and proactive person with experience of working in communities, with a particular aptitude for capacity-building and project development. You will be responsible for ongoing engagement with a diverse range of people, and supporting existing and new resident groups to drive change, as defined by them. This will involve relationship-building, and connecting people with the skills, tools and networks they need, to ensure all projects are locally owned and led. You will have an inquisitive mind-set; always feeding your collective learning into the bigger picture – exploring what local initiatives show us about a wider potential for community-led change.

The selection process will be spread over two sessions. It will include a group interview activity, written task and individual interview. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to interview by Wednesday 5th March.
Interview activities will take place on Monday 9th and Tuesday 10th March.
