Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for an Events Assistant to join our UK-based team. The role is to provide a pivotal role in assisting with the planning, coordination and delivery of conferences and events run by RZIM Zacharias Trust within the UK.

The Zacharias Trust is a UK-registered Christian charity with a friendly, welcoming culture and a warm working atmosphere.  Our organisational vision and mission is to provide thoughtful answers to difficult questions.

As a successful applicant, you will assist with the organisantion and management of key events throughout the calendar year, some outside normal office hours and away from home.  You will also have the opportunity to become a member of a stimulating Christian community, where you will take an active part in the prayer life of the team.  Your main responsibilities would include:

  • Assisting with the management and planning of RZIM Zacharias Trust events.  These will include Reboot (Training Days for youth), Rethink Jesus, Summer School, donor events, team retreats, and other special events (e.g. book launches, offsite meetings and internal events etc.).
  • Working closely with the internal event organisers in delivering and facilitating the above events.
  • Working closely with the Marketing and Media Team to develop event publicity, including promotional materials, bookings and web-based marketing.
  • Assisting with managing the finances of events within the agreed budget framework with members of our senior team.

To be successful in this role you will have significant proven experience working within an operational role involving service provision, organisation and forward-planning skills.  Experience of planning or assisting in the delivery of conferences or events is essential, as you will be expected to manage your own workload effectively.  You will be proficient in managing written and verbal communication at a range of organisational levels.

You will have the opportunity to use your well-developed interpersonal skills together with your ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders internally and externally. You will also be an effective negotiator, who is able to pragmatically solve problems.

You will be a team player, but will also have the ability to work autonomously too. Some experience of dealing with budgetary information, whilst not essential, would also be a distinct advantage.

In return we offer a pleasant working environment, a friendly and open team atmosphere, generous pension scheme, death in service scheme and a range of other work benefits.

Please note: as a result of our Christian ethos, this post is covered by a Genuine Occupational Requirement (GOR) under the Equality Act 2010. The successful applicant will be expected to be a practicing Christian with a mature faith and to clearly demonstrate a personal commitment to the mission, principles, values and practices of the Trust.

You will also need to provide proof of your right to work in the UK as part of the application process.

12 months fixed term (with flexibility and possibility for extension)

If you are interested in applying, please email your CV, together with a covering email outlining your suitability, details about what your Christian faith means to you and motivation for the role.
